Halloween Recipes:

Rotten Teeth Apple Slice

Cut an unpeeled red apple into wedges. The wedges should look like a smile. Spread one side of an apple wedge with peanut butter. Dip miniature marshmallow in chocolate to make rotten teeth. Add miniature marshmallow "teeth" along the edge of the apple slice. Spread another apple wedge with peanut butter. Place it on top of the marshmallows for a big, toothy grin.

Witches Brew
Flavored gelatin
Apple juice
Gummy worms or raisins

Pour 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin into a bowl. Add 2 cups boiling water. Stir until gelatin is dissolved. Add one 6 ounce can unsweetened frozen apple juice concentrate.
Pour mixture into clear lightly greased plastic cups. Have children drop the worms and flys into the brew. Chill for a couple of hours.

Tips for a Healthy Halloween

The two words "healthy" and "halloween" aren't usally used together. Soon you'll be hearing the words "Boo!" and "Trick or Treat" as little witches, superheroes, and vampires knock on your doors for treats. Treats are a part of the tradition; however, treats don’t have to be only candy. When gathering the treats you will offer this year think about some other options. We have gathered some ideas for you.

Surprise your trick-or-treaters with some of these fun and healthy treats:

  • Box of raisins
  • Fruit roll-ups
  • Granola bars
  • Gold fish packages
  • Cheese and cracker packages
  • Sugar free gum
  • Juice in a box

Or surprise your trick-or-treaters with a cauldron full of unique treats. Small toys make unexpected treats that last longer than the sweets:

  • Stickers
  • Tattoos
  • Balls
  • Balloon racers
  • Yo-yos
  • Finger puppets
  • Balloons
  • Rubber spider
