Shapes SAlly Snake Can Make Story Book
Objectives
Children will develop listening skills.
Children will learn about different geometric two-dimensional shapes.
Materials
- Book: Shapes Sally Snake Can Make
- Green 12 inch chenille stem
- Wiggly Eyes
Directions:
Make a knot to one end of the chenille stem and add two wiggly eyes to make a snake. Hand out a snake to each child. Let children use their snake to make and copy the shapes as you tell the Shapes Sally Snake Can Make story.
Tip: For younger children print outline of shapes and let them form the shapes on top of the printouts.
Shapes Sally Snake Can Make
Sally Snake cannot bake.
Sally Snake cannot rake.
Sally Snake cannot eat cake.
But shapes Sally Snake can make.
Sally Snake can make a circle.
Sally Snake can make a square.
Sally Snake can make a triangle.
Sally Snake can make a rectangle.
Sally Snake can make an oval.
Sally Snake can make a diamond.
Look at all the shapes that Sally Snake can make!
Can you name them all?
Extensions:
Let children make a rope snake and color their snake with different markers (see craft section.)
Provide a large Sally Snake rope for children to make different shapes on the floor.
